Position Summary
As a Landscape Designer and Sales Professional, you’ll drive growth by creating standout designs, selling profitable projects, and refining your approach to attract and close clients. You’ll also build your reputation through continued learning, award submissions, and portfolio development to become a recognized leader in the field.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Design & Sales
- Generate, pursue, and convert leads into successful projects
- Foster ongoing relationships with past clients to encourage repeat business
- Achieve annual sales goals independently
- Identify upselling and cross-selling opportunities to maximize project value
- Maintain accurate records in the CRM system
- Conduct client meetings (initial consultations,
- presentations, revisions)
- Prepare design fee estimates based on project scope and profitability
- Perform site visits for photos, takeoffs, elevation shoots, etc.
- Develop concept, schematic, construction, and revision drawings using CAD tools
- Maintain a construction detail library for seamless project execution
- Create presentation materials such as design image boards and plant palettes
- Curate project image libraries for portfolio use and marketing purposes
Estimating
- Prepare budgets, estimates, and bids using company systems
- Research supplier pricing to ensure accuracy and competitiveness
- Update estimating catalogs/templates regularly for precision
- Handle revisions and change orders efficiently
Construction & Client Administration
- Develop detailed construction documents to guide crews effectively
- Collaborate with the Project Manager during project handoffs
- Assist in layout adjustments during installation as needed
- Attend pre-, during-, and post-construction meetings with clients and Project Managers
- Conduct final walkthroughs to ensure client satisfaction before billing
Marketing & Business Development
- Execute marketing strategies aligned with the company’s budget and goals
- Maintain design portfolios for presentations and promotional use
- Support the development of SOPs related to job functions
Educational Development & Networking
- Actively participate in local/national industry groups (e.g., Greenworks, HBRA)
- Submit projects for awards to enhance professional recognition
- Pursue continuing education opportunities in horticulture, design, sales techniques, etc.
