Landscape Designer – Sales Professional

Key Job Responsibilities

Design/sales:

  • Generate, pursue and convert leads
  • Build ongoing relationships with past customers and prospects to encourage future sales.
  • Independently sell your annual sales goal with at least %10 of that coming from past clients
  • Continually look for and execute upsell and cross sell opportunities
  • Maintain CRM system
  • Meet with clients for initial consult mtgs./presentation mtgs./revision mtgs.
  • Prepare design fee estimate based on the amount of time needed and profitability of the project.
  • Site visit for photos/takeoffs/shoot elevations etc.
  • Prepare concept, schematic, construction and revision drawings by hand and CAD.
  • Create  and maintain construction detail library.
  • Prepare client presentations/design image boards/ plant palette board.
  • Create new project image library for portfolio, presentations and marketing

Estimating:

  • Develop budgets, estimates and bids using company estimating system
  • Research and ensure pricing from suppliers and subcontractors is always accurate and competitive
  • Ensure estimating catalog and templates are up to date and accurate at all times
  • Estimate revisions/change orders/etc.
  • Continue to assist in improving estimating process.

Construction and client Administration:

  • Prepare accurate construction documents and job planners for crew to help facilitate install and avoid mistakes.
  • Prepare job planners to hand off to Project Manager
  • Assist in laying out project when needed and any changes or modifications with production staff
  • Attend pre, during and post construction meetings with PM and clients. Collect all deposits and documentation.
  • Final walk through with PM and follow up visit to ensure clients are happy with installation of design prior to billing
  • Photo finished project

Marketing and business development:

  • Develop and execute on company marketing budget and strategic marketing plan 
    • Maintaining design & product portfolio library. 
  • Write and maintain company SOP’s (standard operating procedure) related to your job functions
    • Assist in the development, design and implementation of the companies marketing, strategic, business development and budget goals and plans as related to your job function.
    • Other projects and duties as assigned

Educational, Personal Development and Networking:

  • Join and be active in local and national industry and networking groups such as Greenworks, HBRA and NALP
  • Seek out opportunities to submit projects for awards and recognition
  • Attend seminars, read articles, view webinars that continue to expand your library of creative ideas and sales ability.
  • Make time for your own development with continuing education in horticulture, design and sales classes, nursery visits, garden tours etc.
